For them, there are mountain lakes on the adjacent high plateaus: Lake Favogna above Cortaccia, for example, Lago del Colle in Aldino or lakes Lago Negro and Lago Bianco in the Monte Corno Nature Park.

For all those who like to swim in a pool, close to Hotel Villa Groff in Ora, Egna and Termeno there are some excellently equipped pools to choose from: including large pools, well-kept sunbathing areas, water slides and diving boards. In the swimming pool in Ora, for example, you can swim your lengths in the large pool, while the little ones have fun in the children’s pool or on the slide.

Spring and autumn are the best times for tours in the valley, when the temperatures are mild and you can experience the orchards and vineyards in bloom or during harvest time. On the one hand, that is due to the primeval settlement remains and mystical sacrificial sites, as well as the traces left here by the Raetians and Romans. The Bletterbach Gorge is the Grand Canyon of South Tyrol: Natural monument, adventure playground, place of learning and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is here where the history of the Earth and the development of life become tangible. By examining sediments and fossils in rock layers that are 200 to 300 million years old, visiting experts and newcomers alike can recognise that the Dolomites were once part of a tropical sea.

Several Christmas markets can easily be reached from the hotel, preferably by train or bus. Bolzano with its Christmas market is only 16km away, from there you can also reach the one in Renon by cable car. If you like it quieter, you should make a detour to the Sarentino valley. The Advent season is also celebrated with a wonderful atmosphere in Merano, Bressanone and Vipiteno.

The picturesque village of St. Pauls, on the other hand, with its narrow alleyways, does not have a Christmas market, but a large exhibition of nativity scenes of every kind.

It’s not far from Ora to the slopes! You can ski in the nearby Val di Fiemme, on Passo di Oclini or in Obereggen, where no less than 48 kilometres of slopes make their way around the foot of the Latemar. Night owl winter sports fans also get their money’s worth: on illuminated slopes and toboggan runs.
